Teamlilit vs TutorCruncher: the fee structure is the difference
TutorCruncher charges a percentage of your payments even when it does not process them. Its US pricing page lists offline payment fees of 1% on Pay as you go, 0.65% on Startup and 0.5% on Enterprise, alongside card fees of 3.85% and 3.5%. Teamlilit charges a flat monthly fee and takes nothing from what your families pay you.
Both products include a built-in classroom, so that is not the dividing line here. The dividing line is that TutorCruncher's cost rises with your revenue and Teamlilit's does not.
TutorCruncher details on this page were read from their US pricing page on 31 July 2026. Pricing changes, so check before deciding.
How much does TutorCruncher cost compared to Teamlilit?
TutorCruncher is $30, $80 or $240 a month plus percentage fees; Teamlilit is €29, €69 or €119 a month with no percentage at all.
| TutorCruncher | Teamlilit | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly fee | US$30 / US$80 / US$240 (ex tax) | €29 / €69 / €119 |
| Card payment fee | 3.85% / 3.5% / negotiated | None |
| Offline payment fee | 1% / 0.65% / 0.5% | None |
| International cards | +1.5% | Not applicable |
| Amex, Diners, JCB, prepaid, UnionPay | +2% | Not applicable |
| Students included | Unlimited users and lessons | Unlimited on every plan |
Worked through a real month, a tutor collecting US$2,000 by card on the entry plan pays roughly US$30 plus US$77 in card fees, so about US$107. The same tutor on Teamlilit Solo pays €29 and settles payments however they already do. Take the same tutor to US$5,000 a month and TutorCruncher's entry plan is around US$222 while Teamlilit Solo is still €29.
This is not a claim that TutorCruncher is overpriced. Card processing costs money wherever you do it, and part of that 3.85% is the underlying processor's cut. The point is structural: one price follows your growth and the other stops.
Does TutorCruncher charge a fee on bank transfers?
Yes, 1% on Pay as you go, 0.65% on Startup and 0.5% on Enterprise. These are listed as offline payment fees, which means they apply to money that never moves through TutorCruncher, including a bank transfer or standing order that you record by hand.
Teamlilit charges nothing on recorded payments, because it is not in the money flow at all. Families pay you by whatever method you already use, and you mark the invoice paid, part-paid or overdue. That is also why a busy month does not change your bill.
If most of your families pay by bank transfer, this single line is likely the largest cost difference between the two products.
Does TutorCruncher include a video classroom?
Yes, and it is a real one. TutorCruncher Video is included with 20,000 minutes a month, charged at $0.01 per minute per participant beyond that. So neither product forces you onto Zoom, and anyone telling you TutorCruncher is admin-only is wrong.
The difference is the shape of the limit, and both products have one:
- TutorCruncher meters a monthly pool across your whole account, then bills overage per participant-minute. A group class of six burns six minutes for every minute taught.
- Teamlilit has no monthly pool and no overage charge, but caps a single session at 120 minutes on Solo, 180 on Pro and 240 on Academy.
Read that against how you teach. Long intensive sessions favour TutorCruncher's model; a heavy weekly load of ordinary-length lessons, especially group ones, favours Teamlilit's. Our virtual classroom page covers what is inside the room.
Does either build invoices from attendance?
Teamlilit does: the sessions you actually taught become the invoice lines. Each student's stored rate prices them, sibling and family discounts apply from the student record, several children can be billed on one consolidated invoice, and a late-fee rule can add a charge after your grace period.
TutorCruncher lists "Billing & payroll" and "Calendar & scheduling" as feature areas and includes automatic payments and payroll on every plan. Its pricing and features pages do not specify whether invoices are generated from recorded attendance, so we are not going to tell you either way. If that mechanism matters to you, ask them directly rather than trusting a comparison page, including this one.
Which one should you choose?
Choose on whether you employ other tutors, then on your payment volume.
- You run an agency with contractor tutors. TutorCruncher. Payroll is on every plan and Teamlilit does not do payroll at all.
- You are a solo tutor or a small centre. Teamlilit, on cost alone, unless you need something specific from the list above.
- Most families pay by bank transfer. Teamlilit, decisively. TutorCruncher charges a percentage on those anyway.
- You teach very long sessions. Check Teamlilit's per-session cap against your lesson length before switching.
- You need multiple branches, a custom domain or an account manager. TutorCruncher Enterprise is built for that shape.
Where TutorCruncher is the better choice
It is the stronger product for tutoring agencies, and it is not close. Four cases:
- You pay other tutors. Automatic payments and payroll are included on every plan. Teamlilit bills students and stops there.
- You manage a sales pipeline. TutorCruncher's client pipeline and activity feed are built for converting enquiries at volume.
- You need SMS. TutorCruncher includes email and SMS reminders. Teamlilit's reminders are email only, with no SMS anywhere in the product.
- You want an API and custom integrations. Those come with Enterprise. Teamlilit has no public API.
If you are an agency of any size, points one and four alone may settle it.
Frequently asked questions
Does TutorCruncher take a percentage of my payments?
Yes, on both card and offline payments. TutorCruncher's US pricing page lists card fees of 3.85% on Pay as you go and 3.5% on Startup, with international cards adding 1.5% and Amex, Diners, JCB, prepaid and UnionPay adding 2%. Offline payments carry 1%, 0.65% and 0.5% by plan tier. The offline figure is the one most tutors miss, because it applies to money TutorCruncher never handles, such as a bank transfer you record yourself.
What does TutorCruncher cost per month?
Pay as you go is $30 per month, Startup is $80 and Enterprise is $240, all listed exclusive of tax as of 31 July 2026. Those are the subscription figures only. The percentage fees sit on top, so the real monthly cost depends on how much you invoice, not just which plan you pick.
Does TutorCruncher have a built-in video classroom?
Yes. TutorCruncher Video is included with 20,000 minutes per month, after which it is charged at $0.01 per minute per participant. That is a genuine built-in classroom, so this is not a point of difference between the two products. The difference is the shape of the limit: TutorCruncher meters a monthly pool with overage billing, while Teamlilit has no monthly pool and no overage charge but caps a single session at 120 minutes on Solo, 180 on Pro and 240 on Academy.
Which is cheaper, Teamlilit or TutorCruncher?
Teamlilit is cheaper as soon as you invoice meaningful amounts, because its price does not move with revenue. Teamlilit Solo is €29 a month flat with an unlimited student pool. TutorCruncher Pay as you go is $30 a month plus 3.85% on card payments, so a tutor collecting $2,000 a month by card pays roughly US$107 in total against €29. At low volume the two are close; the gap widens every month your billing grows.
Does Teamlilit handle tutor payroll?
No. Teamlilit bills students and records what they have paid, but it does not calculate or pay tutor wages. TutorCruncher includes automatic payments and payroll on every plan, and for an agency paying a roster of contractor tutors that is a real reason to choose it over Teamlilit.
Is TutorCruncher better for agencies than for solo tutors?
Its feature set points that way. Client pipeline, payroll, multiple branches, custom domains and an account manager are agency concerns, and the Enterprise plan at $240 a month is priced for a business with staff. A solo tutor pays for that depth in both subscription and percentage fees, which is the trade to weigh.
