4. Lesson packages and blocks
For prepaid blocks, the invoice sells the block once and later invoices only appear when the balance runs out.

A note on VAT for UK tutors
Most private tutors do not need to charge VAT. Private tuition delivered personally by a sole trader in a subject ordinarily taught in schools or universities is generally exempt from VAT, and tutors under the registration threshold do not charge it either. Whichever applies to you, say so on the invoice: a one-line "No VAT has been charged" keeps your records clean and stops clients asking.
When a template stops being enough
A template works while you can trust your memory. It stops working the month you have to reconstruct which lessons ran, which cancelled inside the notice window, and what the two siblings in one family actually attended. That is not a formatting problem, so a better-looking template cannot fix it.
