Print a fraction wall, also called a fraction chart, with the rows you choose up to twentieths. Label the pieces as fractions, decimals or percentages, or print a blank fraction wall to fill in, in colour or outlines. The strips layout spaces the rows out to cut into fraction strips or fraction bars. PDF on A4 or US Letter.
Lay a ruler down the wall: 1/2 lines up with 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10 and 6/12. The edges that meet are the equivalent fractions.
Is 2/3 bigger than 3/5? Count along both rows and see which reaches further. The bigger the denominator, the smaller the piece.
Add pieces from one row, 2/8 + 3/8 = 5/8, then cut strips to show why 1/2 + 1/4 needs quarters.
Switch the labels to decimals or percentages: 1/4 is 0.25 and 25%, 1/5 is 0.2 and 20%. A blank wall is a quick check of all three.
