It is free and there is nothing to sign up for. The PDF is made in your browser and nothing you choose is sent anywhere.

For everyday writing, 8 mm feint (UK) or college ruled (US). For younger pupils, 10 mm wide feint or wide ruled. For handwriting practice, handwriting lines with a dashed midline or four lines. Pupils in France, Germany or Spain usually write on their own school ruling: Seyès, a Lineatur or the pauta Montessori.

Wide ruled lines are 11/32 inch apart (8.7 mm) and are used in US elementary schools. College ruled lines are 9/32 inch apart (7.1 mm), so more lines fit on a page. Narrow ruled is 1/4 inch (6.4 mm). US notebook paper also has a margin line 1 1/4 inch from the left edge: choose Left under Margin line to add it.

Seyès is the ruling of French school exercise books: a strong line every 8 mm with three light lines 2 mm apart between them, and vertical lines every 8 mm. The enlarged Seyès 3 mm has 12 mm squares and 3 mm lines, for children starting to write. The margin line sits on one of the vertical lines, as in a French exercise book.

They are the rulings of German primary school exercise books, numbered by school year. Lineatur 1 has four lines 5 mm apart with a shaded middle band and a 5 mm gap between rows; Lineatur 2 is the same at 4 mm; Lineatur 3 has pairs of lines 3.5 mm apart with 8 mm between pairs; Lineatur 4 has single lines 10 mm apart. The 9 mm lines match Lineatur 25 and 27 for older pupils.

It is the Spanish handwriting ruling: four lines, the outer two solid and the inner two dashed, which split each row into three equal bands. The size is the height of one band: 5 mm for the youngest, then 4, 3.5 and 3 mm as writing gets smaller. A blank band of the same height separates the rows.

Yes, if you print at 100% (Actual size) on the paper the PDF was made for. The lines are drawn in millimetres, so 8 mm feint measures 8 mm on paper. Fit to page shrinks everything slightly.
